Madran Dağı arkasındaki kırsal Alabayır ve Kırsakallar mahalleri arasında kalan Gerga Antik Kenti’nde kazı çalışmaları, Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’ndan alınan izinle 1 Ekim’de başlayacak. Çalışmalar Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi Öğretim Üyesi ve Arkeolojik Yüzey Araştırmaları Başkanı Arkeolog Doç. Dr. Murat Çekilmez başkanlığında yürütülecek. Bölgede incelemelerde bulunan İl Turizm ve Kültür Müdürü Mehmet Umut Tuncer, “Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı’ndan burada kazı yapma iznini aldık. Müze müdürlüğü koordinesinde burada ekim ayı başlarında kazı çalışmalarına başlayacağız. Tapınak yapıları zaten şu an tespit edilebilir durumda. Beklentimiz, bölgede antik bir yerleşim alanı keşfetmek olacak. Bu çalışmaların başlayacak olması bizleri sevindirdi ve heyecanlandırdı. Gelecek günlerde burası için çok güzel haberler bekliyoruz” dedi.
